The cricket season opened to-day, in showery weather and on dead wickets. West Christchurch hatted first against Sydenham, and made 159 (T. Condliffe 3(3, P. S. Foster 3'J). Cunningham took sis wickets for 4!i. and Patrick two for 19. Sydenham lost one wicket for 42. Uld Boys, playing St. Albans, were all out for 212 K'romb 73, Mortloek 32, Jacobs 2ft).
