VETERANS OF SAMOA.

WANTED, GREATER INTERESI EX-SERVICEMEN FOREGATHER. To commemorate the landing of the New Zealand Forces at Samoa in 1014, the annual reunion of the Samoan ExServicemen's Association was held on Saturday evening. Major G. E. Simeon, of the Territorial Division, presided. Major Simeon, speaking of the progress of the association, said it had had a successful year, and was financially sound. The excess of income over expenditure amounted to £12 6/9. There was need for members to take more interest in the affairs of the association A definite duty was being asked by General Richardson, Administrator of Samoa, and he hoped that every niaa would do his bit "If Germany wants to get back her colonies, she can approach the League of Nations to take a referendum among the inhabitants of her former possessions. There is a need, therefore, that a feeling favourable to Britain should, be fostered among the people of Samoa," said Major Simeon. "1 am a strong Imperialist. We do not want the results of our pioneer work in Samoa to be wasted," he said, amidst applause. General Richardson had caused a monument to be erected near the spot where the New Zealand troops lirst landed The monument had been suitably iuscrioed, and had been placed in a position where it could be seen lor miles around. The following officers were elected:—President, Major G. E. Simeon; vicepresidents, Captain W. L. -Mitchell and Colonel McQuarrie; secretary, Captain J. D. Swarm; assistant secretary, Mr. D. Cresser; treasurer, Captain Neely. The following committee, representing all the units in the first landing forte at Samca, was chosen: —Messrs. JJ. I resser (3rd Auckland Company), L. Campbell (Kailway Engineers), 'league (Relief Force), Haslett (Medical Corps), T. Venables (Wireless), Hanna (Army Service Corps), j Beagle (Machine Gun Corps), R. Pountj ney (Signal Corps). Messrs. H. Howlett | and Higginson were also elected to make i the required number.
