POOR COAL.
WELLINGTON COMPLAINTS.
RAILWAYS TAKING THE BEST.
(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.")
WELLINGTON, this day. Complaint is reported to be genera* with regard to the quality of the coal being supplied by Wellington merchants. The dealers, however, are not to blame and make no secret of the fact that it ij difficult to get shipments of good hard coal free from slack.
The poor quality is stated to be caused, in a measure, by the coal strike at Newcastle, which induced the New Zealand Government to seek big quantities of large coal from the West Coast for th« railways.
