STATEMENT BY HEALTH OFFICER.

SIXTEEN NOTIFICATIONS TO DATE

''There is nothing to be alarmed about," said Dr. Hughes, district health officer, to a ''Star" representative this morning when questioned about influenza of all Types. "The notifications are not at all heavy for this time of the year, especially when it is taken into consideration that the nine cases of pneumonic influenza rejiorted late yesterday afternoon come from the whole of the Auckland province ar.d from widelyscattered districts. It must also be remembered that the notifications referred to were cases which occurred over the week-end."

On inquiry being made in business circles this morning it was found that in one or two specific instances staffs hart been affected, but, taking it on the whole, the attendances were really above the average for this time of the year.
