ROTORUA HIGH SCHOOL.
• I DIRECTOR'S FAVOURABLE VIEW. j A very favourable view of the application that had been made for the estab- | lishment of a high 6chool at Rotorua j was taken to-day by the Director of j Education, Mr. J. Caughley, in accepting the Auckland Education Board's co- j operation in connection with the matter. Mr. Caughley said he would leave for i Rotorua on Friday morning, and he re- j garded the conditions as most favour- j able for the establishment of a junior j high school, together with a district high school. The project could be | launched without a penny of cost to the I Government. Without a junior high school, Mr. Caughley considered, the district high < school project was not a good one. There would be only SO pupils for the proposed secondary school, but if a junior high school were included, about 200 pupils would be available. Mr. E. C. Banks was authorised to accompany the Director of Education to Rotorua on the high school question.
