He obtained his ; dentistry degree in America and came; to Xew Zealand about five years ago. i After practising for about two years in Dunedin, Dr. Hunter came to Te Awamutu. LATE MRS. SEARELL. The funeral of the late Mrs. Mary T» arell took place yesterday afternoon, when, in addition to the relatives, many friends were present to pay their respects to the deceased, who was held in deep regard by all who knew her. A short service was held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. M. Walton, Ngapuhi Road, Remuera, by the Rev. R. Geo. Coats, vicar of the Church of the Epiphaly, and the service at the graveside in Purewa Cemetery was taken by the Rev. H. A. Coleman, of St. Aidan's Church. Mrs. Searell was the widow of the late Mr. Richard Trist Searell, who was a lead'ng figure in musical activities in Christchurch and Southland. MR .A. G. SANDERSON. (By Telegraph.—Press association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The death is announced of Mr. A. Gordon Sanderson, formerly a wellknown swimmer, and ex-secretary of the Canterbury Swimming Centre. MR. WILLIAM SUTTIE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The death is reported, at the age of 50, of Mr. William Suttie, a prominent member of the Sunnysids Bowling Club. He was one of this year's finalists in the Maddison Trophy competition, the singles championship of the Cliristchurch Bowling Centre. MAJOR C. D. PITT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORXE, this day. The dcatli is announced of Major C. D. Pitt, a well-known figure in Auckland jind Poverty Hay since the early days of the colony, njjed $'-■ His grandfather, in 1547. was Commander of the Forces in Xew Zealand, and his father, Colonel Pitt, assisted in the formation of the Ist Waikato Regiment in 1564. Deceased served in the Waikato campaign and later in tlie West Coast and Unwora lighting. He was promoted in 1870 to be inspector in the Armed Constabulary, and later entered farming and commercial life.
