Sanfords, Ltd., stating that they were prepared to' instruct any unemployed who were prepared to go rabbit-trapping, in the preparation of the carcases. A Labour Protest. The following resolution has been passed by a combined meeting of the Trades Union*;' executives: — '"That this meeting of the combined Trade Unionist executives and representatives of the unemployed, representing the whole of the Trade Unions of Auckland, emphatically protests against ' the action of the Government in engaging single men for construction work at 10/ per day, and using the unfortunate position of the unemployed to reduce the standard of life of the whole of the workers. We are of the opinion that ths men now employed could be profltably employed at Trade Union rates on works urgently needed. We regard this as the thin • edge of the wedge for further reductions, and a lead by the Government to private employers,"

A copy of the resolution has been for warded to the Prime Minister.
