Already many of the arrangements have been completed, and Dr. Carmalt Jones, of Dunedin, lias left on a visit to Australia to make arrangements with the Australian medical men who will be making a visit to the conference. , Dr. P. Clennell Fenwick, of the Christchurch Hospital, who is making some of the arrangements, reports that there will be a very large number of Australian visitors to Dunedin. As yet, it was not known if there would be visitors from other countries as well as Australia

At the same time as the conference, there will be a military staff ride at Waikouaiti, where Colonel Tracy Tnglis, Director of Medical Services, and Colonel P. Clennell Fenwick. A.D.M.S.. will he in charge. Lieutenant-Colonel N. W. Thomas, Chief Staff Officer of the Southern command, will be the military adviser, and has prepared a comprehensive scheme for the event. A large number of military medical officers will participate. An interesting suhiect that will he Introduced at the medical staff ride will be a Medical Code Book, which has been produced by Colonel P. C. Fenwick Tills hook gives each soldier a name less than eight letters which covers Vs own name and number and that of his next of kin. A word of eight or less letters has also been evolved for every known disease and illnesß. and th" result is that a cable bearing two words would cover nil information concerning the state of health of a soldier. The ndoption of this method would save tbe Dominion thousands of pounds in cable i expense in time of war.
