RACING IN AUSTRALIA.

NEW ZEALANDER UNLUCKY. PIRATIC WINS HURDLES. SYDNEY, June 7. The holiday sports and race meetings to-day were held in cold, showery weather. The Australian Jockey Club Hurdle Race resulted: — PIRATIC 1 CASTLES 2 JUPITER 3 Fourteen started, including Cherry Ripe, the New Zealand horse, which fell when it was leading at the four furlongs hurdle. This left Castle in front. Piratic came with a run and led into the straight. He was never afterwards troubled, and won by eight lengths. Time, 4.33. Shortly after the start Palbl fell and broke a leg, and had to be destroyed. FIRST NURSERY HANDICAP. First Division. AENEID 1 KIOSK 2 SHANSKIEL 3 Won by three lengths. Time, 1.16*. — (A. and N.Z.
