HAURAKI DRAINAGE.

MONTHLY BOAKD MEETING. The Hauraki Drainage Board held its monthly meeting at Turua, Mr. O. Gray presiding. Several instances of drains having been seriously damaged by cattle were mentioned, and a tightening up of the fencing regulations was advocated. Discussion on the subject provoked the suggestion that the Board take over the whole of the fencing— erection and maintenance. It would mean increased rates for a time, but eventually lower maintenance charges. The clerk was instructed to procure a further quantity of fencing wire, and to serve the usual notices on several landowners.
