OHAKUNE.

On Thursday evening a number of Ohakune motorists held a meeting to discuss the possibilities of forming a local branch of the Auckland Automobile Association. It was agreed to approach headquarters immediately. At the Wellington Provincial Conference of the Farmers' Union, held recently in Wanganui Mr. Goldfinch, of Ohakune, was elected vice-president, and Mr. Prentice to the committee. The census returns for the borough of Ohakune show a decrease of 12 on the 1021 census returns, which were: Males 828, females 707 ; total. 1535. Mr. H. H. Brown, organiser of the P. and T. Department's Association, addressed a meeting of members on Wednesday. Officers from Horopito, Karioi, and Kangntaua were present.
