RAIN AT WHANGAREI.

NORTH ROAD FLOODED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Heavy week-end rains again caused flooding of the main north road at Waiotu, between Whakapara and Hukerenui. Yesterday there was a foot of water on the road at this particular spot, which, it is estimated, will take two days to subside.

Relief culverts for carrying off the surplus water at this place were put in as a temporary measure pending the erection of a new bridge to replace that which carried away after over fifty years' service, but they are totally inadequate to cope with the storm water.
