ILLEGAL BETTING.
FINE—AND PROFITS. (By Telegraph.—Press association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. As the result of Saturday's raid on a house in Madras* Street, the magistrate (Mr. Widdowson) fined Marius Sheridan and Charles Frederick Fearon £100 each on charges of keeping a common gaming house, while six other men | found in the house were fined £2 each. The police said the two accused were ' bookmakers, and their profits since Cup I Day were £920.
