EDUCATION BOARD.
t ■ The Auckland Education Board met this morning. There were present: Mr. A. Burns (chairman), Mrs; Ferner, Messrs. E. C. Banks, J. Boddie. J. Patterson. J P. McPhall, T. D. Wells, R. Hoe. H. S. W. King. J. D. McKenzie, F. A. Snell. In connection with the flag cup essay competition that was held ln the schools, the judges, Messrs. E. C. Cutten. S.M., HS. W. King, and C, W. Garrard, presented the following report: —"We examined the essays (numbering 248) written by pupils of standard VI. in connection with the flag cup competition. We consider tbat the best essay submitted was that of Flora Macdonald, of Cornwall Park School, and we recommend that she be awarded the prize. The essay written by- Hilary Wood, of Manurewa School, was one of high merit, and deserving of speelal commendation. We consider that the following pupils should also be commended:—Pauline Brooker, Rotorua; Phyllis Kinniburgh. Waitoa; Lindsay Jones, Huntly; Osborne Turley, Arondale; Wynona Hope-Wright, Bavfield." The report was adopted.
