PROMISES MADE.
■ . EDUCATION EXPENDITURE. MR. WRIGHT THINKS HARD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Hon. R. A. Wright, replying to a deputation which asked for additions to fhe Wellington Technical College, said that questions were being asked whether the Education Department was getting value for its expenditure .and whether it was spending money in the right direction. He could not answer these questions yet, but he agreed that technical education in Wellington had been thrust on one side. Mr.'- Wright said: "A 'great many promises have been made before I came into office. Commitments have been made by my predecessor, which I shall certainly have to redeem. There can be no escape from them. This is going to handicap mc very severely in my first year of office." The present request, said the Minister, would be brought before Cabinet.
