THE PRICE OF LAND.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Permit mc to draw the atten-' tion of your readers to the high price of land in both town and country. It is simply beating the air to talk about the high price of building material when, with the exception of bricks, building material is as cheap as it can get while the present rates of wages are maintained. But not so with the land. Sections around Auckland have doubled in price in the past three years, and in many cases the owners have not done a hand's turn on the land. £300, £400 and £500 are the prices being asked for small home sites, while the prices being asked for farm lands are so high that the working farmer is at his wit's end to pay his interest on unpaid purchase money. This is a problem we should tackle with outgloves off.—l am, etc., WORKER.
