FEBRUARY WOOL SALES.

Four wool sales were held ill the North Island during the past month, and a comparison of the prices realised at each of the four selling centres shows that i here has been very little variation in values. Where any variation is shown .he quality ot" the wool obviously waa mainly responsible for the variation. In the table appended the quotations for average quality crossbred iieece wool are given, also the quotations for crossbred bellies and pieces, goods to super:—Flue Crossbreds, 40/45 — d. d. Wanganui 11_ to 12} Auckland II to 12} Napier 12} to 14 Wellington 11} to 14 Medium Crossbred, 4-1/40 — Wanganui ldj to 12 Auckland 10* to 12} Napier 11" tv 13 Wellington 11 to 13i Coarse Crossbred, 40/44 — Wanganui 10 toll Auckland lij to 11 Napier UIJ to 11} Wellington 11 to IL'_ Low Crossbred, 4G/4S— Wanganui _, S} to 10 Auckland Uij to lnj Napier <i_j to 11 Wellington lu_, to 11$ Bellies and Pieces — Wanganui S to 0} Auckland S_ to lv Napier S to mi Wellington 8} to 11} A slight improvement is shown at both Niipier and Wellington, and particularly at the latter centre. Some part of the improvement is no doubt due to quality, but a.t Wellington it was noted that Bradford buyers were operating with great freedom, and lifted the bulk of the wool. Wool prices now appear to have reached the safe economic plane, where buyer and seller can meet with some assurance of each benefiting by the deal. It is satisfactory to Know that all consuming centres are in need of the staple.
