When the matter of allocating the 50 yards championship of Auckland came before the meeting of the Auckland Centre last night, a strange position arose, when A. D. Adamson and L. Fairgray, the two men who dead-heated on two occasions, flatly refused to swim againMr. Richardson said he would like the centre's ruling on the point. The swimmers had refused to swim again. Mr. J. A. Fernandez quoted the rules, which held that, in the event of a deadheat, the swimmers had to abide by the decision .of the referee, and he" had ordered that the race be re-swum. Mr. Johnstone: If they won't swim, will the "championship go back to Mr. Enwright ? Members were of the opinion that the men should take a sporting chance and swim again. The two swimmers concerned, who were present, intimated that it would not be fair to one another to have to swim again. Mr. Fernandez moved that the wishes of the Mount Eden Club be given effect to. The motion was carried, and the matter now depends on what the referee decides-
