POISON FUMES.
FROM ABERDARE MINE. OTHER SEAMS ENDANGERED. (Received 12 noon.) BRISBAXE, this day. Gas from the burning shaft of the Aberdare Extended mine blew off the sealing which had been fixed on Friday, and poisonous fumes of burning tar and clouds of smoke poured out. The manager of the mine, in attempting to block the outlet, was overcome by the fumes and taken to hospital. The -wall separating the Extended mine from the Aberdare colliery is being strengthened by a brick and concrete wall. The poisonous fumes are thick in the workings, and several men were overcome. Fears are felt for the whole of the Ipswich coal district, as numerous scams extend in all directions and the Aberdare seam can be traced for several miles. (A. and X.Z. Cable.)
