LIGHTING THE LAKE.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. It would be very lamentable to see the lake grounds degraded to a -veritable night sarden, declared Mr. Swarbrick at a meeting of the Domain Board last evening, when an offer to bear half the cost of the erection of electric lights at the lnke was received from tho Lake Amateur Swimming and Life Saving Club. Mr. Swarbrick went on to say that he did not think permanent electric lights should lie erected all over the grounds. He would be very sorry to see the lake lit up for Saturday jazz parties. Any system of lighting would have to be limited to two lights, one at the main entrance to throw light down the entrance drive and the other at the bathing sheds. The board also had to consider whether it was desirable to encourage bathing at night with weeds in the lake. He was generally opposed to any scheme for running electric wires over the lake grounds. It was decided to permit two lights only.
