LABOUR AND COMMUNISTS.
MX. OLDFIELD'S ASSERTION. At St. Stephen's Hall, on Saturday night Mr. Oldfield, Reform candidate for Auckland West, denied the statement alleged to have been made by his opponent, Mr. Parry, that "The Tory candidate had spent all his time in vilifying him personally," and he challenged anybody to say that he had at any time said one word against Mr. Savage personally—though he had attacked and would continue to attack his politics. The Labour candidates objected to being called Communists, but this was true of them, declared the candidate. __ Informed'by an elector that the Labour party had passed a resolution to keep Communists out of tho party, Mr. Oldfield contended that the .mere passing ot a resolution was not sufficient—they said and did the same things and bad the same objective, and if they were honest they would make some real attempt to get rid of the Communists already in the party.
