WAIPA RACING CLUB.

INCREASE IN STAKES. MR. TIMS DONATES CUP. (From Our- Own Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, Saturday. The committee of the Waipa Racing Club met last evening, Mr. A. S. Wallace occupying the chair. The secretary' reported having received permission from the president of the Racing Conference for tllfc club to give not less than £1250 in stakes at the anmial meeting on December 12. It was pointed out that this is £250 in excess of last December's stake money. The following programme was then drawn up for the December meeting:—Pirongia Hurdles (open), about one mile and a-half, £ 150 ; Kihikihi Handicap (open), six furlongs, £125; Watpa Plate (weight-for-age), six furlongs, £ 100 ;Te Awamutu Cup, ten furlongs, £320; Paterangi Welter (open), one mile, £125; Orakau Handicap (hacks), seven furlongs, £110; Flying Handicap (open), six furlongs, £200; Ohaupo Handicap (open), seven furlongs, f 120 ; total, £1250. Mr. M. H. Tims intimated his desire to give a cup for the winner of the Te Awamutu Cup, and a gold-mounted whip to the rider of the winner. He suggested including the value of the trophy in the stake money for the principal race. The offer was gladly accepted, and Mr. Tims was cordially thanked for his tangible evidence of goodwill towards the club. The following appointments were made : Starter, Mr. A. Vincent ; handicapper, Mr. F. J. McManemin; judicial committee, Messrs. A. S. Wallace, G. M. Ahier, N. M. Lethbrldge, H. Weal and Dr. Grlbhln; judge. Mr. K. B. Lusk ; paddock steward, Mr.' E. B. Walker; paddock steward assistant, Mr. Hill ; totalisator steward, Mr. R. A. Coyne; jockeys' room steward, Mr. A. Bond; timekeeper. Mr. P. Seccombe; flag Steward, Mr. A. Bond ; horse holders, Messrs. W. Alexander, C. P. Storey. H. Weei and 3. O'Sullivan ; weighing room stewards, Messrs. B. C. Macky and J. Layne; number board stewards, Messrs. P. Quin and J. T. Young; blackboard steward, Mr. S. A. Empsou ; starter's assistant, Mr. T. G. Martin ; ballot box steward, Mr. M. Tims; press steward, Mr. A. A. Reese; accommodation stewards, Messrs. O'Sullivan and W. Finley; ambulance steward, Mr. Empßon. An offer for the rights of the publican's booth, for three years, at £60 per day, was made by Mr. J. Molloy, and accepted. The tender of Adams and Co., caterers, was accepted for the refreshment booth next December at £27 10/. Regarding proposed alterations to buildings, the secretary reported that he had written Mr. Cray, who had subsequently met the chairman and discussed the present lay-out and had undertaken to forward a plan of the permanent improvements he would suggest should be aimed at and would come over and discuss the question with the committee at a later period*. The secretary stated the plans had not yet come to hand.
