COMMONWEALTH TARIFF.
ALARM IN ENGLAND. LONDON, September 10. The "Daily Express" says that the Australian tariff is causing consternation among a section of the textile industry. A representative of a cotton tweed firm said the new duties would put up the prices of his firm's goods in Australia nearly 100 per cent. The firm had received cablegrams instructing it to cancel existing orders. The manufacture of low grade woollens > had been similarly affected.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
