It was stated that the steamer had been held up for three weeks, and the position was becoming seTious. Of 500 passengers who arrived, 370 are third class travellers, and are still on the vessel, many of them entirely without means. The company had offered one pound sterling to each passenger for Melbourne, two for Sydney, and three for Brisbane. It cost considerably more than that for them to obtain transport.
