NEW ISLAND ARRIVES.

UP FROM THE AEGEAN. VOLCANO SPOUTS FIRE ATHENS, August 14. A new island is arising out of the sea simultaneously with an eruption of the old volcano on the island of Santorin. Flames are being thrown upwards from the volcano to a height of 30ft.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) Santorin is iii the Aegean Sea, one of the Cyclades. With the island of Thirasia and the islet of Asipronisi to the west, it forms an interrupted ring, the crater of the volcano, in the middle of which have arisen, through eruptions, the three Kaimeni islets, Palora, Nea, and Mekra.
