ROAD BADLY DAMAGED.
NATIVE BUSH DESTROYED.

The weather, after lifting for the first two days of the Fleet's arrival, relapsed into wet and cold wintry southerlies," which still continue. One result of persistent rain was- a heavy slip in the Northlands suburb, carrying away the greater part of Hillside Road, and destroying a fine patch of native bush in its progress down the slope. Considerable damage was also done to private property.
