BURGLARY AT WAIHI.
A WOMAN ARRESTED.
DOOR SMASHED WITH AN AXE.
IMPORTANT POLICE CLUES,

WAIHI, this day.
In the Police Court this morning a woman named Caroline Elizabeth Swan, alias Carrie Lethaby, was charged with breaking and entering the premises of Ellen Mitchell on August 13 and stealing therefrom the sum of f'J. Senior Sergeant McLean applied for a remand till Thursday next, which was granted. Accused was arrested on the day following the alleged theft. The finding of a handkerchief marked "C.L." and certain rubber heel marks played an important part in the police cues.
The back door of the burgled premises had been smashed in with an axe.
