ON BOARD THE FLAGSHIP.
ADMIRAL "PIPED OVER SIDE."
Representing. His Majesty's New Zealand Government, Sir James Parr, Minister of Education, returned Admiral S. S. Robison's official call this morning, shortly before 10 a.m., on board U.S.s. California, flagship of the - battle fleet. The visitor was received with a full guard of honour, consisting of a company of marines and the ship's band, drawn Up on thequarter-deck. % As the representative of the New Zealand Government was leaving the flagship the guard stood at the salute. Immediately he stepped ashore the British Naval Ensign wae run up at- the peak and a salute of 19 guns was fired, •the whole ship's company meanwhile Btanding •at attention and the' officers at the salute. A few minutes later Admiral S. S; Robison, accompanied by his chief staff officer, ,, -Rear-Admiral L. A. Bostwick, was "piped'over the side" to'a waiting launch, which whisked the party away across the harbour to H.M;S. Philomel, where the official call of Commander F. N. Miles, R2J.; senior baße officer, was returned?.. ■ ■... ■ - . - •
