PROSPECTS FOR BUTTER.
INQUIRIES FOR EAELY OUTPUT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, Thursday. At the annual meeting of the Morrinsville Co-operative Dairy Company to-day, it was stated that the company had received an invitation to sell the August, September, and October outputs of butter at 1/7J per lb f.0.b., and 1/7 per lb for the November make. This would meant a payment to the suppliers of about 1/8 per lb butterfat. This statement led to a discussion as to whether the company should sell on an f.o.b. basis or consign the early season's make. One director stated the one argument in favour of selling the August and 'September output was that it was impossible, owing to the conditions under which farmers worked at this time, to manufacture the best quality butter, and it was doubtful whether the butter made at this period would open up in the best of condition when it reached the London market. The matter was eventually left to the directors' discretion.
