EPSOM METHODIST CHURCH.
The anniversary of the Epsom Methodist Church was celebrated on Sunday, when the Keys; W.'McDonald. 8.D., and >K. Drake ■(pastor of the church) addressed very large congregations. Special music was rendered by the choir, and Miss Laura Stone rendered the solo "Abide With Me"' at the evening service. The annual social gatherling was held In the schoolroom on Tuesday. The .chair was occupied by ihe u ev _■■ Drake, and Rev. Principal Laws, D.D., gave an address oil "The Ordinary Man in the Church.'' Musical items were rendered by Ihe choir. Miss Pnine, Mr. and .Mrs \. Peak, Miss M. Farland and Mr. J. C. Reunie" while Mrs. Klrkpatrlck gave elocutionary items. Tho reports showed that member-' ship was 225—an increase or 13, junior members DC—an Increase of 11. with- 330 scholars and 30 teachers. «S3 3/10 had been raised for home and foreign missions for school and property purposes £001 14 0, the total income being £1668 12/0. Owing to pressure on space it has been decided to enlarge the school, with additional accommodation for the church vestries, the whole of the property to be renovated at a cost
of £2000, £SOO of which is in hand. Opportunity was taken to mart the appreciation <*t the services of Mr. A. Peak as honorary organist of the church during the fourteen •years of its history- Kugolistie references were made to the many valuable services rendered by.Mr. Peak by Mr. E. A. Pearce, and on behalf of the trustees and church members the Rev.' E. Dralce presented hini with a gold watch, suitably inscribed.
