AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.
BERTHING OF SYDNEY BOATS. DIRTY WAITING ROOMS. A meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held this afternoon. A letter wns received from the ActingCollector of Customs, asking if it would lie possible to berth most of the regular Sydney boats at the Central wharf in order to suit the convenience of the Department. The Harbourmaster's report stated that it was quite impossible lo arrange to berth all Sydney vessels ;it Central wharf without seriously interfering with the general arrangements of the port. It was reported by tlie Harbourmaster that the neu- coloured glasses for the red and green seotoora of the Bean Rock had proved most satisfactory. The traffic manager reported that he had visited the wharves at St. Helier's, Kohimarama and Orakei. and had found the waiting rooms and lavatories in a very dirty condition. They were also in bad repair. He suggested that the wharves be closed or that the. waiting rooms be boarded up.
