. i APPOINTMENT OF ASSESSORS. CLAIM BY OBJECTORS. (By Telegraph.-Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, this day. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce held Inst evening the question of the new borough valuations \v.i= fully discussed iv committee, and it Mas decided that .Messrs. Hisley, Clarke, Hume, Hooker, Lowry and Tidd lie n committee. to go into the question with those who are prepared to lodge concrete objections, and that the l hainber offers its services to the objectors with a view t>> minimising the cost in connection with laying the matter before the Assessment Court. Mr. -T. A. Young-, M.P.. drew attention to an alteration tlmt was necessary in (lie appointment nf assessors to the Assessment Court, namely that those objecting should have the ricrht to nominate their representative to the Court. It was also agreed that a subcommittee be appointed to go as a deputation to the council to confer with it, and arrange for a suitable representative on behalf of the objectors, and that suitable names of competent persons as assessors be submitted to the council. Further, jt was decided that ihe matter of appointment of assessors be referred to the secretary of the associated chambers, asking him to interview the Minister and Valuer-f;eneral, and ask for an alteration in the manner of appointment, and that representatives be made for a conference of Government valuers, to be held with n view of arriving at a uniform set of principles in Mr. Young was asked to take the matter up with tlie Minister.
