WAIHI AFFAIRS.
A YEAR'S REVIEW. CBr Telegraph.—Or.n Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. The final meeting of the present Borough Council was held last evening. On the motion of the Mayor, a vote of sympathy was passed with Mr. Massey, and. hope expressed for his speedy recovery. The Mayor (Mr. W. M. Wallmitt), reviewing the work, of the council, said they had kept within their revenue, and not one penny had been paid on account of overdraft: nor had any workmen been placed on half-time. Waihi workmen were amongst the best paid in the Dominion. A valuable steam roller and roading plant had been purchased, resxilting> in good roads and footpaths. A first-class quarry was now being opened up. and electric lighting and power was being introduced in the town. Important matters necessitating close attention included Waihi's contribution to the rivers improvement scheme, hospital levies, tar sealing of the main street, completion of Waihi Beach Road, and improvemnts to water mains. \ supervisor was now engaged measuring up with a view to reporting on the same The Mayor also mentioned that Waihi ocean beach was rapidly becoming a favourite health resort.
