THE RANGIRIRI DEVIATION.

MOTORISTS' CELEBRATION MAY 2. In order to mark the opening of the new Rangiriri deviation the Auckland Automobile Association and its Hamilton branch have decided to hold a celebration on May 2, when the road will be officially opened. The Association, at its meeting last evening, resolved to make the affair purely a motorists' function and to extend invitations to the Minister of Public Works and a limited number of others directly interested. Motorists from Hamilton "and Auckland are to meet on the deviation, when speeches will be made and the event celebrated m appropriate fashion, concluding with a procession of motor cars over the new road. It was stated that the Hamilton Association has decided to approach the Whangamarino County Council with a view to having the old road over the Rangiriris made into a stock route, thus prohibiting stock being driven along the new deciation and saving additional wear and tear.
