PRESENTATION.
Mr. T. B. Arthur, who is severing liis connection with the Takapuna Borough Council after being a member of that body for over ten years, was the recipient of a presentation from ratepayers of the district last evening. In handing Mr. Arthur a handsome rug, the Maj-or, Mr. J. W. Hayden, said Mr. Arthur's record as a councillor was unique in the history of the borough. He had topped the poll in 1915 and 1919, and had occupied fourth position during the elections of 1917 and 1923. A member who always stood by what he thought was right could not head the poll on every occasion. He assured Mr. Arthur that he was retiring with the good wishes of a large majority of the ratepayers of Takapuna, and with the knowledge that he had performed great public services. He sincerely hoped that after a .period of retirement Mr. Arthur would again offer 'himself for re-election. The Hon. E. W. Alison and Messrs. A. M. Gould and W. Blomfield also spoke in praiseworthy terms of Mr. Arthur's services as a member of the council
