DOMINION PATRIOTIC FUNDS.
ABSORPTION OF SOCIETIES
BENEFICIARIES' INTERESTS.
While lie was in Wellington recently the Mayor, Sir James Gunson, attended the half-yearly meeting of tho National War Funds Council, when several matters of importance to the patriotic funds of the Dominion were dealt with by the Council, whose responsibilities and activities are constantly being extended by the closure of the smaller patriotic funds and their transfer to the National War Funds Council. The council, Sir James pointed out this morning, is not in conflict but in full co-operation with the remaining patriotic societies, whose separate functions will be extended so long as may be considered advisable. This question can only be determined by having regard to the different requirements, that is to say, the interests of those for whom the funds were raised.
