DAIRY CONFERENCE.
REPRESENTATIVES AT SOUTHDOWN. DEMONSTRATION OF GRADING. A record gathering of rhanagers and directors of dairy companies throughout the Auckland Province met at the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Works at Southdown to-day in annual conference. Over one hundred delegates were present, and were taken out from Auckland by cliar-a-banc. The conference was opened at 10 o'clock by Mr. J. Rutherford, chairman of the Managers' Association, who welcomed the delegates and thanked the Freezing Company for the use of its buildings. Mr. T. Simpson, chief engineer of the Auckland Farmers' Freezing C6mpany, suitably responded.
During the inornihg" a' demonstration of grading butter and cheese was given in the grading room by six members of the Dairy Division, together with free discussion on grading points.
All those present were entertained at luncheon.
A conference was held in the grading room this afternoon, when the speakers were Mr. W. Grounds (chairman of the Dairy Control Board), Mr. W. M. Singleton (Director of the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture), and a number of leading factory managers.
