A thrilling story of heroism of a labourer named McGcevy is reported from Belfast, where a father, mother and their Jive children were trapped on the top lloor of a burning building. Pending the arrival of the brigade tliere were no ladders long enough to reach the window. McGcevy climbed to the roof by another route and dropped down on the window ledge and swung out his feet. This human ladder formed a link over which all the occupants, who were iv night attire, clambered to safety. Cheering crowds watched the rescue. After the ordeal McGcevy was completely exhausted.—(A. and N.Z.)
