SIX MONTHS' FIGURES. MELBOURNE, February 4. A statement issued by the Commonwealth Treasury shows an apparent surplus on the past half-year's transactions of £4.484.101). The total revenue was £30,530,675, and the total expenditure £2 (.946,470. The expenditure figure does not, however, include interest payments on war loans, which exceeds £5".000,000. The surplus, therefore, is not real.
The accumulated credit on December 31 was £9,106,10-2. Loans amounting to £3.000,000 were redeemed during the half-year.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
