OCCUPATION OF RUHR.
DIFFERENCES IN FRANCE. HERRIOT'S DETERMINATION. LONDON, February 4. The Paris correspondent of the "Daily Express" reports that the Socialist leader, M. Leon Blum, made a sensational speech in the Chamber of Deputies. M. Blum said that members of his party opposed the continuance of the military occupation of the Rhine as much as they did the occupation of the Ruhr. The Chamber was in a state of uproar, when the Premier ( M. Herriotj interposed. He said he did not intend to change one word of his statement that to remain on the Rhine was France's last guarantee of security. M. Blum's speech, it is considered, reveals that a serious split is developing, and sounding the death-knell of the Herriot Government. — (A. and N.Z.)
