AN INSANE MOTHER.
TWO CHILDREN MURDERED. WOMAN COMMITS SUICIDE. SYDNEY, December 26. On returning to his home in Mudgee at mid-day, Herbert Ellis opened the bedroom door in looking for his wife, and found the bodies of their two children, Enid, aged three years, and a baby, aged three weeka, lying in bed, both dead. Their throats were terribly gashed. The mother wag found lying at the bottom of the bed, also with her throat cut. She was removed to the hospital, where she died. All the wounds were inflicted with a butcher's knife. Mrs. Ellis had been in bad health for some time, and apparently was demented when she committed the acts.— (A. and X.Z. Cable.)
