Browne, with their sons Charles Foster and Allen Edward , Browne, are touring the world. They , made Pittsburgh ia special stop to see Mr. Hardie. Mr. Browne said that the intellectuals in the Labour party of Australia are ruling the country with such wls- , dom that the Radicals and Socialists of the group have little to say. 1 "We are having no trouble with capitalism, which greets the Labour party"s administrative efficiency with a hearty welcome," llr. Browne said. I The visitor said there would be a I record wool crop as there arc three sheep to every man per capita in Australia this year. Mr. Hardie, who finished a recent world tour, is one of the pioneer confectionery men of Pittsburgh. He built it with industry and application. His sons run the business now. while the rich Scotsman, friend of '•Tommy" ; Lipton, has retired. j Mr. Browne is also a native of Scotland, and is one of the first great manufacturers of the Antipodes. The visitor ! said that he saw Pittsburgh steel being j forged into Chinese ships. "The Chinese I are building many commercial ships, and they are doing it out of Pittsburgh steel." J Cattle, dairy products are keeping pace with the other advantages of the country, Mr. Browne said. "Americans may have to come into competition with China later in many of the world's key ! industries," the visitor predicted, "and our beef trade over there seems to be unable to compete with that of the Argentine," the New Zealander admitted.
