THE SIX METRES RACE. ■WON BY BTWITED STATES. (BccciTcd 11 a.m.) NEW YORK, September 13. America won the finals of the interi national six metres yacht races when the American yacht Dauphin crossed the I line one minute ahead of the British yacht Thistle.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) This is the fourth annual contest held j between British and American representative yachts of the 6-metre international class. The contests were inaugurated in 1921, when four boats from America visited England and raced a sene3 of six matches at Cowes. The contest is decided on points. The first contest resulted in an easy win for the British team, which scored 117 points j against the visitors' 88. points. In 1922 ! four British boats were , shrpped to j New York, and the American team won the match with a score of 111 points after a close contest, the British team scoring 104 points.; Last year the contest .was held at Cowes, when the British team had an easy victory, winning all the races. This year the American team has won, so the wins are now two each. The British team this year consisted of Thistle, a boat owned by Lady Constance Baird and sailed by Mr. Granville Keele, a well-known British' amateur ekipper, Betty, a Fifedesigned boat, Echo, designed and j owned by Sir Thomas Glen Coats, and I Zenith, also Fife-designed, completed : the British team. ; v
