WATERSIDE WORKERS' BAND.
(To the Editor.) ] Sir, —As a subscriber to the WaterI side Workers' Band, I made a few inquiries re the action of the union, and iby the information I gathered from j various sources, find that the writer of > the letter in your Monday's issue could I not have gone to much trouble, for some of his indictments are contrary to facts. He mentions the Wellington union as a case in point, but the circumstances are quite different. Wellington band was a matter of debt; Auckland is a matter of principle only. His information may have come from some. members of the band. No doubt the generous subscribers and public of Auckland will have an opportunity at a public meeting to hear both sides of the case, and thereby judge for themselves. There is not the slightest doubt the Harbour Board, as I am told, in particular, hag rendered yeoman service to the band and given, its most invaluable support, particularly the secretary, •Mr. 11. B. Burnett. I would ask all ■ interested and the public generally not ■to condemn the action of those responsible for the drastic steps taken until the matter has been fully ventilated, which may put a different aspect on the whole case. —I am, etc., LOVER OF JUSTICE.
