GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
"THE REMAINING MONTHS." LEAVING WITH REGRET. The Governor-General, judging by some remarks made at Greymouth on Tuesday afternoon, does not contemplate staying in Xew Zealand beyond the duration of bis present term of appointment, which will expire shortly. His Excellency, acknowledging complimentary remarks made by the Mayor of the borough at a civic reception, said he was , grateful for tlie cordial welcome. He was on an unofficial visit, but it was difficult for him to distinguish it from an official visit. He hoped to spend the remaining months of his term of office as happily as those he had enjoyed-since his appointment. A further term would be acceptable, but. unfortunately circumstances over which he had no control forbade this. His family would leave Xew Zealand with sorow, particularly at leaving the children, who were so happy, healthy, enterprising, and full of initiative. Wcstland was very beautiful, and he did not think the scenery he had seen from Kelson via Westport to Greymouth could be beaten in any of the many countries he had visited. The warmth of the welcome he had received, both on this and the previuus visit, would never be forgotten.
