WARD LIMESTONE ROCKS.
SCENIC ASSET BEING DESTROYED. APPEAL TO THE GOVERNMENT. The member for Grey Lynn. Mr. F. Bartram. visited Whangarei this week, and while there a meeting of railwaymen, which he addressed, passed a strong resolution against the destruction of the limestone rocks at Hikurangi. This morning Mr. Bartram dispatched the following telegram on the subject to the l'riine Minister:— "Meeting of railway-men addressed by mc at Whangarei passed strong resolution against the wanton destruction of the Hikurangi limestone rocks at Warn, and asked mc to convey their yn-otost to the Government. I heartily endorse the protest, which voices the general sent i ments of the district against the destruction of a valuable .-conic asset which ouolit to be secured to the nation. 1 trust that the Government, will stop this piece of commercial vandalism at once, as in a few months il will be too late."
