OHAKUNE OPEN RACE. The most important and successful young bird event of the 1923 season, promoted by the respective secretaries of the Northern and Auckland Clubs. Messrs. F. ("oster and A. Way, was an open race on Saturday from Ohakune to Auckland, an airline distance of 182 miles. Fifty-seven birds representing 20 lofts, competed. Mr w' Watson's blue cock Daily Mail HI was the tirst bird to reach its loft, after Ovine live hours. making a veVcity of 1086 yards per minute, and winning the tirst prize of £10 and also a gold medal donated by Mr. W, Norton.
