EMPIRE EXHIBITION.

THE GUARANTORS NERVOUS. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 27. In the Houße of Commons, Mr. C. W. Darbishire (Liberal, Westbury), inquired whether Sir W. Joynson-Hicks would consider the abandonment of the British Empire Exhibition with a view to limiting the guarantors' probable losses. Sir Joynson-Hicks replied in the negative. He saw no reason, he said, to anticipate an ultimate loss, while the abandonment would inevitably involve immediate heavy losses. —(A. and N.Z.)
