OLD LEGAL PRESUMPTION. i Received 9 a.m.l LONDON, February 25. Lord Birkenhead is introducing in the Honse of Lord* a Criminal Justice Bill, empowering magistrates to deal summarily with a number of misdemeanours yhich at present have to be tried by a jury, and to impose sentences not exceeding six months, or fines of £50. The bill abolishes the presumption of jaw that an offence committed by a wife in the presence of her husband is committed under the husband's coercion.— 'A. and X.Z. Cable.)
