NORTHERN WATER SUPPLY.
POSSIBLE USE OOF CITY WORKS. The question of the City Council supplying the suburban boroughs across the harbour with water cam c before the council last night in a letter from tlie Lake Takapuna Board of Control, which inquired if the council could definitely undertake the supply. In the event of the council being prepared to supply these boroughs, the board desired to know approximately from what date such supply would be available, and what the cost per thousand gallons was likely to be at the point of delivery, apart from the question of conveyance across the harbour, which was considered a matter for separate consideration.
The matter was referred to a committee of the whole council, with power to act. It was mentioned that the engineer was making inquiries with a view to reporting fully on the proposal.
